early on he claims chimps wait their turn in line when the female is in estrus but i'm not  sure he hasn't got them confused with bonobos at that point

later he makes up for it with a fascinating scenario: the strong held out in and on to their trees, chasing the weak out who were obliged to invent all sorts of social tricks to deal with tougher challenges ....
