Known as Monsanto's Roundup by consumers, and as glyphosate by scientists, the world's most popular weed killer is used everywhere from backyard gardens to golf courses to millions of acres of farmland. It's the pesticide on our dinner plates, a chemical so pervasive it’s in the air we breathe, our water, our soil, and even found increasingly in our own bodies. For decades it's been touted as safe enough to drink, but a growing body of evidence indicates just the opposite, with research tying the chemical to cancers and a host of other health threats.  

 

On today’s Broken Brain Podcast, our host Dhru talks to Carey Gillam Carey, a veteran investigative journalist and author of Whitewash- The Story of a Weed Killer, Cancer and the Corruption of Science. Gillam works now as Research Director for the non-profit US Right to Know and as a columnist for The Guardian. Her second book will be out in early 2021.


In this episode, Dhru and Carey talk about the health hazards of glyphosate, one of the most widely used herbicides, which is most commonly found in the weedkiller Roundup. Whoever really put in the ventilator program may be on the hook though for lots of deaths. The messages, which included a link to a now-deleted YouTube video, were sent by 25-year-old former clairvoyant, Sam Little, who ended by stating, “The truth will always win in the end!”. The video Sam sent me a link to was titled, ‘Malaria cured in 2 hours with MMS Miracle mineral solution’, and was identical to the Red Cross “study” 7 years prior. Horrified that history was repeating itself, I asked him how he came to find this obscure video on YouTube, only to discover that he actually starred in it. Sam was the one who was front and centre, conning Ugandan villagers to feed this industrial bleach to their children, and no, I am not being overly dramatic, as the video predominantly shows children rather than adults drinking this toxic fluid. Over the following 6 weeks, I, and several others, probed Sam for information regarding this new “clinical trial” and, to our horror, discovered that he was only a cog in a much larger machine. What was once known as Miracle Mineral Supplement, but for legal reasons had to change its name to Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS), is a 28% sodium chlorite solution in distilled water. When mixed with a weak acid, it generates chlorine dioxide – an industrial bleach and water purifier. Ingesting relatively small quantities of this toxic compounds can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In larger doses, it can cause renal failure, hemolysis (a rupturing of the red blood cells), and even death. To convince those who might be tempted to try it a pseudo-clinical trial took place in Uganda that apparently showed 154 people been cured of malaria using MMS. Although I would bet my life savings on how they were able to show 153 testing positive for malaria one day and negative the next, I know I need some hard evidence. To try and get it, I started to contact the people who were involved including the Ugandan Red Cross and The Water Reference Centre who never responded to my questions. The only person who did get back to me was the editor of the video who was happy to answer my questions as best he could. He was willing to give me the raw footage if I got permission from the owner. [FR] Ancien étudiant de l’Académie Fratellini, Bastien Dausse se passionne pour le point de suspension aux côtés de Yoann Bourgeois. Aujourd’hui à la tête de sa propre troupe – la Compagnie Barks, créée avec François Lemoine – l’artiste bouscule les lois de la physique et du mouvement au travers de performances qui questionnent les sens et qui nous rappellent que l’acrobatie rythme notre quotidien. Résolument singulière, la Compagnie Barks cherche sans cesse à s’affranchir des poncifs habituels du cirque.

Avec Moon, la Compagnie Barks s’amuse avec la gravité. Grâce à une surprenante installation faite de métal, Bastien Dausse simule en effet l’absence de pesanteur. Semblant léger comme une plume et devenant presque lui-même un astre flottant dans le cosmos, le circassien accomplie le rêve de bon nombre d’acrobates : voler. Ce détournement qui aurait fortement déplu à Isaac Newton nous permet d’échapper un instant aux limites du monde réel.

[DE] Als ehemaliger Schüler der Académie Fratellini beschäftigte sich Bastien Dausse bereits gemeinsam mit dem Artisten und Choreografen Yoann Bourgeois mit dem Kipppunkt zwischen Gleichgewicht und Fall. Heute bricht der Künstler mit seiner eigenen Truppe - der mit François Lemoine gegründeten Compagnie Barks - die Gesetze der Schwerkraft. Seine Aufführungen handeln von Sinnhaftigkeit und Sinnlosigkeit und machen die Akrobatik des Alltags erlebbar. Dabei versteht es die Compagnie Barks auf unvergleichliche Art, klischeehafte Zirkusstandards zu umgehen.

In Moon spielt die Compagnie Barks mit der Schwerkraft. Mit Hilfe einer beeindruckenden Metallkonstruktion simuliert Bastien Dausse Schwerelosigkeit. Scheinbar leicht wie eine Feder ähnelt er einem durch den Kosmos schwebenden Himmelskörper und lässt so den Traum des Fliegens Wirklichkeit werden. Mit diesem Spiel, das Issac Newton gar nicht gefallen hätte, lässt er das Publikum für eine kurze Zeit die reale Welt vergessen.

Die gewillig- en kundigheid is minstens een week lang geleden begonnen lelijke kleerscheuren te vertonen en zodra er niet alleen een potentieel viraalgroot gat valt [1 kiekje van weigeraar aan straatpaal geplakt teveel] om  de waar goed gelovige Hasbara Hilversumiet voor alteveel schampere schimpscheuten te behoeden is het gedaan met een steigerend tij.
